Insights from the 2nd “The Giving Back Project by People from Overseas.”

On Tuesday, February 26, 2026, we held our second discussion, once again inviting three foreign people from overseas connected to our organization.

In a world of increasing globalization and Japan facing a shrinking workforce, the discussion focused on two main themes: how these individuals can give back to society and what initiatives are needed in regions where opinions are divided. One participant suggested that giving back should not be seen just as “labor”, but as a way to enrich Japanese society through specialized knowledge and technical skills. This discussion deepened as they highlighted positive trends already visible in Japan, such as the promotion of cultural exchange.

Despite discussion for the first time and coming from different countries, the participants connected deeply as peers living in Japan. It was a truly valuable opportunity for mutual exchange.

The discussion will carry on into the next discussion and beyond, as we ask ourselves: what is your role, and what can build together with people in Japan.
