Even if you change the school, you are permitted to renew the period of stay.
Previously, the period of stay for taking Japanese language education was up to two years, but it is permitted to renew the period of stay for more than two years for those who cannot take classes due to the closure of school caused by the COVID-19.
If you obtain permission to engage in an activity other than that permitted by the status of residence previously granted, you can work part-time within 28 hours a week.
International students who have difficulties returning to your country or other countries even though you have graduated from school.
●Normal rules
Permitted to change the residency qualification to “Temporary Visitor(90 days)”.
※You cannot work part-time with the qualification, “Temporary Visitor(90 days)”.
●Special rules
Permitted to change to “Designated Activities(6months, permitted to work part-time within 28 hours a week, 6 months)”.
International students who wish to hunt a job in Japan after graduation.
Permitted to change to “Designated Activities (permitted to work part-time within 28 hours a week, 6 months)”. ※ Limited to those who graduated from an educational institution on or after January 1, 2020.
When foreign nationals seek a job with the qualification, “Designated Activities(6months)”, they are permitted to renew it once for one year since graduation normally. However, it is possible to renew it for more than one year because there are difficulties for job hunting due to the restriction for going out to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
